If you're up for a small cave adventure head up to stelzer peak. You can't beat the view from the very top. Although the last half mile or so to the top is strenuous, it is well worth it. My kids enjoyed it.
Nice spot for a hike, trails being not to long or steep. The camp site is situated in the valley bottom, shaded by a large number of coast live oaks. Great play structures for the kids and lots of room to run and play The only downside is the traffic on the road to Barona makes it a fairly noisy campsite in which to sleep.
Pay $3 to park. The playground are nice. I like the little trail around the park. It is pretty small. The staff is prickly.
Really great for kids! My 2 year old was able to walk the entire way on the riparian trail. We did see two rattlesnakes on our visit, which I think is uncommon. Just be aware of your surroundings and know what to do when encountering wildlife. There IS a $3 parking fee, so bring change.
It's got a lot of shade on the playgrounds so it's a great place to go on a hot day if you still want to go outside. Also if you're up for a short hike, the Riparian trail is only a mile or so, but also mostly shaded. It runs along the wildcat canyon creek, although the creek is normally dry for the summer.
Good playground for kids. Lots of tables for picnics. Also space for camping and hiking. Pay parking only. Access is off windfy road and not easy to see from the road.
